Munich

Day 11

Our final full day in Munich.  We have limited pictures because we did the bus tour of Munich and it was difficult to take notes and take pictures that didn't end up blurry.

First section built of the summer palace for the wife of the king; 2 more huge sections were added

Hanging the lights on the tannenbaum in Marienplatz.
The town hall is behind with the glockenspiel in the tower. Can you see the figures in the second picture?

Munich's May Pole

Second half of day was spent on an excursion to Lindorf Schloss (palace).
This was the palace built by Ludwig II up in the Bavarian Alps.  It's architecture was strongly influenced by the French.  Unfortunately the garden area was put to rest for the winter.

We stopped in Oberammergau before returning to Munich.
This town is known for the Passion Play they put on every 10 years, it's wood carving, and murals painted throughout town.
Even though the snow was higher up in the Alps, geraniums were still beautiful on the homes & businesses.

We wrapped up the evening with our final meal together as a group and said good-byes.
Early morning since we have to be loaded and on the bus by 6:15 am for our trip to the airport!
Can't wait to share more with you when we return!
