Leipzig Mansfield Eisleben Erfurt

Day 5

We left The Westin Leipzig after a one night stay.

We are headed to Mansfield on our Global tour bus with the license plate "700."
Thomas who is from Hungary is our driver.

We passed a sycamore tree which according to our tour guide, Werner, has no bark.

As we got closer to Mansfield, we saw large mounds of dirt which are from the copper mines.  Hans Luther, Martin's father, was a master miner.

Next, we boarded the bus and drove to Erfurt.

We walked across the Merchant' Bridge in Erfurt
which is lined with half-timbered homes and shops.

The Augustinian Monastery, over 700 years old, is where Luther lived as a monk.

We ate dinner down in a cellar.
We had wonderful Thüringen dumplings, red cabbage with apples, meatroll, and sauerbraten.

Auf wiedersehen!
