Torgau and Leipzig 11/1/2017
Day 4
We left Dessau after spending two nights at the NH hotel. Wonderful buffet breakfasts. The first night we had schnitzel, broccoli, potatoes, and dessert. Last night we had chicken curry and snow peas.
We left for Torgau at 9:00 a.m. We arrived and did a walking tour of the city. One of our first stops was the oldest toy store in Germany, Carl Loebner. established in 1865.Sarah found a new friend. Too bad he will not fit in the suitcase.

The town square fountain. We stood near the wild boar spigot.
We have heard numerous times about the reunification of Germany and the poor conditions of the buildings. The conditions are improving but you still see much construction still happening and often abandoned buildings which need repair. One solution in Torgau was to add artwork in place of windows.
Torgau was the city where the Russian and American armies met.
Next, we walked over to the castle church. Three bears live in the moat surrounding the castle church.
Christmas decorations made from Legos in a window.
Entrance to St. Nikolai Kirche.
The columns were very unique.
