Day 11 Our final full day in Munich.  We have limited pictures because we did the bus tour of Munich and it was difficult to take notes and take pictures that didn't end up blurry. First section built of the summer palace for the wife of the king; 2 more huge sections were added Hanging the lights on the tannenbaum in Marienplatz. The town hall is behind with the glockenspiel in the tower. Can you see the figures in the second picture? Munich's May Pole Second half of day was spent on an excursion to Lindorf Schloss (palace). This was the palace built by Ludwig II up in the Bavarian Alps.  It's architecture was strongly influenced by the French.  Unfortunately the garden area was put to rest for the winter. Day 10 Rise and shine another day is beginning our journey! Day 9 Got up early to put the luggage out so then walked across the bridge and looked back across the Rhine River.  It was a beautiful sight! Even the water is interesting here.  Wonder what we are drinking? We left Mainz as the sun was rising over the Rhine River. We entered medieval Rothenburg around 11:00 a.m. The gate and watch were rebuilt after WWII in the medieval style. The church steeple with a small bulb. Half-timber building inside the walls. The wine bottles in Rothenburg are shaped differently. Schneeballs in the bakery.  A unique pastry to Rothenburg. The Ratstrinkstube clock tower at noon.  The doors are open as we saw a reenactment of the legend of the heroic mayor who saved his town by drinking a gallon of wine.
